Blog-Let's be honest

Are you struggling with reading the word, listening to the word or studying the word?? Ask yourself that hard question and be honest with your answer.

I must confess I have been there and I am sure many of you have too. I am here to tell you that is Satan and your flesh are ganging up against your spirit.

Jesus says Matt 26:41 NKJV 41Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

That is your warning, remember that.

Be encouraged, you are not the only one. Even though our walks are individual, we share many of the same battles.

So how do we break out of a bad spiritual rut? Talk to Jesus like he is your best friend, spill everything. Do not forget to journal, he will give you thoughts, ideas and ways to dig yourself out of a hole, if you are in one. Just remember as much as you want out of that hole, the easy way out is not always best. It can bring on an attitude of entitlement. That is why God allows that proverbial bag be pulled over the top of our head's. We get in the mess, it is up to us to punch our way out of it.

This is one of the reasons we have, The Bible. As we read through the stories, we can see that the people 2000 years ago are no different than we are today. We have just found ways to become more evil, more ways to ignore it too.

If you want to get going on something doable. Start easy. Read one Proverb a day. There are 31 Proverbs. If you stick with it, in a month, you have now read the book of Proverbs. Write down your questions or thoughts after each Proverb, meditate on it for the day. Talk to God for just 5 minutes in the morning, right when you get up. Then wait. Journal any thoughts. As you progress, add the book of John to your regimen. Learn who Jesus is. Ask for an insatiable hunger for him and his word. Stream the Bible on the way to work, in the grocery store, while you are shopping. You will soon prefer God's word over anything else.

Now you have a routine.

Ask the Holy Spirit where to go next.

Covet your time and cover it with prayer so you are not interrupted or distracted. Remember, first fruits includes your time with God.

Every day is a fresh start. Lamentations 3:22-24

22Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed,

Because His compassions fail not.

23They are new every morning;

Great is Your faithfulness.

24“The Lord is my portion,” says my soul,

“Therefore I hope in Him!”

Be encouraged, do not give up, and remember those darts are most likely not your thoughts. Take it as a compliment. If you are under attack, more likely than not you are going in the right direction.

If you are left alone to your own devices and you know your life is full of sin, (God wrote his law on every man's heart), please come back to Jesus. Time is so short. Start today.

Do not forget the thorn that's left in each of our sides. More likely than not will stay with you. I believe that is to keep us humble, needing Jesus.

May God bless you on your journey back to him.

End-
